About Crescent Park church of Christ...
The preacher in Ecclesiastes said it best when he declared:
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
As such we have great respect for God and His ways:
"“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Therefore we do our very best to follow His ways revealed within His Word:
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17)
Our faith is not a better felt than told, but grounded and built upon the Word of God.
The Bible does not teach that man from the womb is sinful, but that he chooses to sin:
"Let no one say when he is tempted, “ I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren…” (James 1:13-16)
We can no more inherit our parents sins much less Adam’s sins:
"The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.” (Ezekiel 18:20)
You can remove the sin weighing you down by obeying the gospel:
- Believe (John 8:24)
- Confess Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God (Romans 10:9-10)
- Repent of your Sins (Acts 2:38)
- Be Baptized, Washing Away Your Sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21)
- Be Faithful (Colossians 1:23; 2 Timothy 3:14; Revelation 2:10)
"And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:22-23)
As a part of the Lord’s church we worship together each first day of the week as they did in New Testament times (Acts 20:7)
We follow their examples by:
- Engaging in Bible Study (2 Timothy 2:15, 4:1-2)
- Singing (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19)
- Praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- Sharing in the Lord’s Sacrifice (1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:23)
- Cheerfully Giving (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
We also meet on Wednesday evening to renew our strength through Bible study.
The Word of God is plain about God’s desire to be honored and worshiped in the way He declares in His Word:
"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)
Hence the name for this website “in spirit and in truth”. That is the way we endeavor to honor God through our collective worship and personal devotion.
If you are interested in leaving behind man’s "think-so’s” and follow the pure Word of the Lord, come study and worship with us!
